King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia passes on at 90

Late King Abdullah

Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz, the sixth king of Saudi Arabia, dies three weeks after being hospitalized for pneumonia. He was being treated at a hospital in Riyadh before his death a few hours ago.
Before the announcement of his death, Saudi television cut to Koranic verses, which often signifies the death of a senior royal. He ruled Saudi Arabia from 2005 to 2015. The king had a personal fortune estimated at $18 billion, making him the third wealthiest head of state in the world. A statement made early on Friday, that's Saudi Arabia time, said his brother, Salman, had become the new king of Saudi Arabia.
