Oh not again!
This morning a massive 7.3 earthquake shook Nepal. It’s been less than two weeks since the April 25 quake hit the region, killing more than 8,000 people and injured more than 18,000. Initially residents thought the May 12 earthquake was an aftershock, but they soon realized it was more serious. The death toll is rising. At press time, at least 29 people had been killed and 1,006 injured, according to the Nepali government.
The U.S. Geological Survey said the latest tremor was also felt in northern India and Bangladesh, and was centered east of the Nepalese capital Kathmandu, in a rural area close to the Chinese border. Thirty-one of the country’s 75 districts have been affected. Rescue helicopters have been sent to districts northeast of the capital that are believed to be the worst hit.
