Taylor Swift Sets Staples Center Record And Gets Surprised By Kobe Bryant

Taylor Swift broke a record at the Staples Center on Friday, and none other than Kobe Bryant was on hand to help honor the superstar.
Friday’s show kicked off a five-night run at the Los Angeles venue for Swift’s “1989 World Tour.” But because of her successful stops at the Staples Center in years past, Swift now holds the record for the most sold-out shows of any artist. The number? Sixteen!

The folks at the Staples Center made Swift her very own banner to commemorate the milestone, and she was surprised on stage by Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant. The singer wrote on Instagram afterward, “The screams you hear from an LA crowd when Kobe walks out onstage are so deafening you think you may have permanent hearing loss. But it was SO WORTH IT.” She went on to say of the surprise, “The banners up at Staples Center right now because WHAT IS LIFE EVEN.”

And Bryant wasn’t the only celebrity at the concert. Swift brought out Ryan Tedder to collaborate on “Counting Stars,” took a backstage shot with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and reunited with “Bad Blood” pal Mariska Hargitay. Check out the videos with Bryant below!
