T.I. thinks a mythological monster is more qualified to be president than a woman.
In an interview with DJ Whoo Kid posted to YouTube over the weekend (via Vibe), the rapper, whose real name is Clifford Harris, said he would not be voting for Hillary Clinton in the coming presidential election.
“Not to be sexist but, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman,” the 35-year-old said.
While representatives for Clinton have not yet returned a request for comment, T.I. issued an apology on Twitter on Tuesday.

The “About The Money” rapper believes that while women can serve in political office effectively, they have no business leading the country because of a tendency to allow their feelings to guide their decision-making.
“Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well,” he said. “But the president? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally — they make very permanent, cemented decisions — and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen.”
And if you ask T.I., the consequences of voting a woman into office — be it Clinton or anyone else — would be dire.
“And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke … [Other world leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to get the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could [get a woman],” he said with a chuckle.
One candidate who has caught the rapper’s eye is Donald Trump, though his tendency toward making sensational racist proclamations will probably stop him for voting for the businessman.
“His racist remarks and all of his off-color statements and all that s–t it makes it impossible to be completely supportive of him,” he said. “But just knowing what he’s done for business for himself, if he intends to do that for America, it would be beneficial. But I can’t cash no vote for him.”
T.I.’s opinion on women’s inability to be president isn’t widespread in the hip-hop community. On Monday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Pharrell made it clear he thinks the former secretary of state is well suited for the office.
“The thing is, if we had somebody looking after our country that thought about things as a whole, I just feel like it just would be different,” the “Happy” singer told DeGeneres. “Not that I don’t love our current president, I just feel it’s Hillary time.”
My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong. I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended.
