Breaking News: Bomb Blast At Polling Unit in Enugu

No arrest has so far been made in connection with the suspected bomb blast that occurred at a polling unit located in a primary school in Enugu on Saturday shortly before accreditation of voters.
This came as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, expressed shock over the dastardly act.

Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, told Vanguard yesterday that “the explosion  was being speedily handled with a view to unmasking perpetrators.”
Anyim, while fielding questions from newsmen at his country home, Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, weekend, said he was shocked to hear about the blast and wondered how such an act could be perpetrated in “Enugu of all places.”
He, however, said he was equally glad to know that the incident did not claim innocent lives or affected the election negatively.
“So, its a failed attempt for whatever purpose it was planted. I was told that some were detonated. I was told nobody was injured.
‘’So, if there is any incident and is under control, we don’t need to make mountains out of it. Whatever be the mission for which they planted the bombs, it has failed,” Anyim said.
Newly deployed Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Dan Bature, who raced to the scene shortly after the incident, addressed hordes of journalists who were also on hand to get first hand information at the spot.
He told reporters at the scene:  “We are trying to get whatever information we can get, whatever is their motive we don’t know. “Whoever is responsible we don’t know but what I am assuring you is that nobody was hurt.
