Sorry, Sex and the City fans, Carrie Bradshaw may still be shopping for those Manolo Blahniks, but you won’t see them in another movie. Fan buzz usually turns out to be false alarm.
Parker stirred up excitement recently when she posted an Instagram that showed her leaving Bloomingdale’s on Fifth Avenue. Dressed in trademark designer clothes, Parker captioned her photo with, “Well. I guess the cat’s out of the (little brown) bag. As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I’m under strict gag order until then.”
Given the details of the photo and Parker’s message, some fans assumed this was a not-so-subtle way to announce that Sex and the City 3 was in the works. But according to Warner Bros., a third film is nowhere near development. “The post is not in relation to the Sex and the City property,” the studio confirmed to E! News in a statement. So what’s the big secret behind Parker’s photo? Word is that the actress is apparently planning to expand her shoe line, SJP Collection, to Bloomingdale’s stores.
While the news comes as a disappointment for those who were hoping to see the next chapter in the lives of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha, a third Sex and the City movie isn’t entirely out of the question. In February 2014, Michael Patrick King told EW: “Sarah Jessica and I both know what that final chapter is. That doesn’t mean it will or should be told, but I do think there’s one story left. Whether it ever happens is a whole other situation. But there’s four girls, and those girls are still in my mind. There are other stories to tell and characters that haven’t even been written yet.”
